These routes are on streets and trails, with some small sections with gravel. A hybrid or commuter-style bike will be fine. You do not need a mountain bike.
Please make out your cheque to the Vancouver Area Cycling Coalition.
The Vancouver Area Cycling Coalition created the Great Rides program in 2009 to highlight links among bike routes, community events, local history and natural spaces, all by being active. Discover the amazing bike routes that already exist in your community!
The Vancouver Area Cycling Coalition (VACC) is a volunteer-run non-profit society whose members work to improve conditions for cycling in the Lower Mainland. The VACC believes that increased bicycle use has the potential to reduce traffic congestion, improve our health, and enhance our urban environment. The VACC is behind Bike to Work Week, Streetwise Cycling courses, and bike safety education programs for children. Since 1998, the organization has successfully worked to get things done for cyclists in the Lower Mainland. For information about the VACC, click here: http://www.vacc.bc.ca/about/about.php?pageID=2
I already have an account on the VACC website. Why can’t I log in to the Great Rides site with my VACC site username and password
The main VACC website is undergoing some enhancements. In the meantime, to register for Great Rides, please create a new account on this site, even if you have an existing account on the VACC website. We plan to integrate the two separate user accounts in the future. Your data will not be lost, nor will it be shared with other organizations.
You can register online for a Great Ride in two ways: by making a PayPal transaction or by cheque. You can also register on the day of the ride for $20.
