Download the MEC Great Rides Booklet with route map (PDF).

Bike over the brand new bridge between Maple Ridge and Langley. Start in Maple Ridge or Old Fort Langley and ride a figure-eight loop with the Golden Ears Bridge at the centre.

This Great Ride has route options from 14km to 34km, with extensions to take your total up to 64km.

Great Ride Features

Until 2009, the towns of Langley and Maple Ridge were divided by the Fraser River. Not anymore! The Golden Ears Bridge now links historic Fort Langley to modern Maple Ridge. Just opened in June 2009, this huge bridge arches 1.3 km over the river with great bike paths on each side. Take time to stop for a minute in the middle and soak up the views of the river and mountains.

Come explore Old Fort Langley

Fort.jpgbales344.jpgFor over 150 years the Hudson’s Bay Company traded with the First Nations of the Lower Mainland area from Fort Langley. Trading goods from here reached Alaska, Hawaii and Europe. In 1858 British Columbia became a colony here at Fort Langley. Today you can bike to the doors of this old Fort and explore a living history museum. For more information on Fort Langley, click here.

The Great Ride Route:

You can start at either point and choose to ride a route anywhere from 14km to 34 km.

Route options are as follows:

Option #1 - 14km: Cycle the loop on the Maple Ridge side.

Option #2 - 20km: Cycle the route on the Fort Langley side. This is recommended for families, as the Fort will have music and children's activities and the traffic and ride are much quieter.

Option #3 - 34km: Add another 3km to either of the first two if you want to ride over the Golden Ears Bridge and back. The entire main route with loops on both sides of the river is 34 km.

Option #4 - 64km: Add in the possible extensions on both sides to maximize the route.

Start points:

There are two starting points for this ride – one in Langley at the Fort Langley Historical site and one in Maple Ridge. You can start at either and choose to ride as much of the route as you want.

Starting point addresses:

How to get there:

Ample parking is available at Fort Langley Historical Site. Limited parking is available in Maple Ridge. Overflow parking is available beside the Fort in Old Fort Langley as well as along Glover Road leading to the old ferry crossing.
